You don't need much at all to go letterboxing; it's a rather inexpensive hobby. A suggested list:

• Notebook
• A personalized rubber stamp
• Ink Pad

Regarding the rubber stamp, the Guild travels with their main logo stamp. But, you will probably want to make your own, more personalized stamp. The following sites give excellent instructions on how to make your own stamp, cheaply, quickly, and easily:

The Perfect Circle Letterboxing Guild also travels with a camera, so we can take photographs of our adventures. We also carry an old toothbrush to clean the stamps we find in the boxes, in case they've gotten caked with dried ink.
